Paediatric Neonatologist

They primarily work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), managing premature babies, critically ill infants, and new born with congenital or life-threatening health conditions. Core Responsibilities Clinical Management: Assess, diagnose, and treat new born with breathing disorders, infections, birth defects, and low birth weights in the NICU. Life-Saving Interventions: Provide critical procedures such as ventilation, heart-lung bypass, medication administration, and specialized nutritional support. Delivery Room Presence: Assist at high-risk deliveries or C sections to stabilize infants immediately after birth if complications are anticipated. Family Counselling: Communicate diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment plans clearly while offering emotional support to parents during highly stressful times. Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Collaborate closely with obstetricians, paediatricians, paediatric surgeons, nurses, and respiratory therapists. Key Requirements Education: A medical degree followed by a paediatric residency and sub-specialty fellowship training in neonatology. Certification: Board certification (or eligibility) in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
