Job Summary A premier, multi-specialty tertiary care hospital in Bhubaneswar is actively seeking an experienced medical professional for the position of Consultant in General Surgery. This senior clinical role is fully optimized for a highly skilled surgeon with a proven track record of performing advanced open and laparoscopic surgical interventions. The selected specialist will head a dedicated surgical team, manage emergency trauma cases, and drive high standards of perioperative patient care. Core Key Skills Required To maximize organic search reach and match medical Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), candidates must possess the following core clinical competencies: Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery: Hands-on mastery in minimal access surgeries including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and various hernia repairs (TAPP/TEP). Open & Complex General Surgeries: Excellence in performing thyroidectomies, mastectomies, gastrointestinal resections, and emergency exploratory laparotomies. Trauma & Emergency Surgical Care: Rapid clinical decision-making and surgical management for acute abdomens, polytrauma, and visceral injuries. Endoscopy & Diagnostics: Proficiency in performing upper GI endoscopies and colonoscopies is highly advantageous. Perioperative Management: Complete expertise in pre-operative optimization, intra-operative safety protocols, and comprehensive post-operative critical care monitoring. Key Responsibilities Surgical Operations: Perform scheduled elective and high-risk emergency major/minor surgical procedures independently. Outpatient & Inpatient Care: Conduct daily OPD clinics, lead IPD ward rounds, and provide expert cross-departmental surgical consultations. On-Call Emergencies: Participate in the department’s rotational on-call roster to manage overnight trauma and acute surgical emergencies. Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior resident doctors, DNB candidates, and OT nursing staff in surgical protocols. Requirements & Qualifications Education: MS or DNB in General Surgery from an NMC-recognized, premier medical institution. Experience: Strictly a minimum of 5 years of post-PG clinical experience working as a Consultant or Senior Assistant Professor in a busy hospital setup.Licensure: Mandatory active, permanent registration with the Odisha Medical Council (OMC) or National Medical Commission (NMC).
