Professor – Ophthalmology Job Description
Chennai Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Trichy, is inviting applications from qualified and experienced Professors in Ophthalmology to join its medical college and teaching hospital.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Ophthalmology faculty looking for Professor jobs in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. The selected candidate will provide academic leadership, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, comprehensive eye care, surgical training, research guidance and departmental administration.
Key Responsibilities
Lead undergraduate MBBS and postgraduate teaching in Ophthalmology.
Conduct lectures, tutorials, clinical demonstrations, seminars and case discussions.
Provide comprehensive diagnosis and management of ophthalmic conditions.
Supervise OPD, inpatient and emergency ophthalmology services.
Perform and supervise ophthalmic surgeries and procedures according to expertise.
Provide surgical training and guidance to postgraduate residents.
Manage cataract, glaucoma, corneal, retinal and other ophthalmic conditions.
Supervise pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
Guide postgraduate students in dissertations, research and academic activities.
Mentor Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Senior Residents and Junior Residents.
Participate in multidisciplinary clinical meetings and academic conferences.
Lead departmental research projects and contribute to publications.
Participate in university examinations, internal assessments and curriculum development.
Ensure proper clinical documentation, patient safety and infection-control practices.
Maintain compliance with NMC guidelines and institutional medical education standards.
Eligibility for Professor – Ophthalmology
MBBS + MS/MD/DNB in Ophthalmology from an NMC-recognized medical institution.
Valid registration with the NMC/State Medical Council.
Candidates should fulfil the applicable NMC eligibility criteria for Professor.
Relevant teaching experience in an NMC-recognized medical college is required.
Candidates with strong postgraduate teaching, surgical experience, research publications and academic achievements will be preferred.
Experience
As per applicable NMC norms for Professor – Ophthalmology.
Candidates with extensive experience in medical college teaching, postgraduate training, ophthalmic surgery and academic leadership will be preferred.
Salary
₹2,50,000 – ₹4,00,000 per month
Salary is negotiable based on qualification, teaching experience, surgical expertise, publications and overall academic profile.
