Position Overview We are currently seeking a highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated Professor of General Surgery to lead our academic and clinical team. Key Responsibilities of the General Surgery Professor Academic Leadership and Teaching Curriculum Design & Delivery: Lead the development and implementation of the General Surgery curriculum for MBBS and MS (General Surgery) students in strict compliance with NMC guidelines. Postgraduate Mentorship: Guide postgraduate residents through their academic journey, supervising complex case discussions, journal clubs, seminar presentations, and thesis research. Clinical Bedside Teaching: Conduct regular ward rounds and intensive bedside teaching sessions, ensuring students gain practical, hands-on clinical skills. Examination & Evaluation: Function as an internal and university examiner, designing robust competency-based assessments to ensure high academic standards. Clinical Excellence & Surgical Practice Performing Advanced Surgeries: Lead and perform a wide spectrum of elective and emergency general surgical procedures, including laparoscopic surgeries, hernia repairs, cholecystectomies, gastrointestinal surgeries, and trauma management. Outpatient & Inpatient Care: Manage a high-volume OPD and IPD, ensuring accurate diagnosis, effective treatment planning, and safe perioperative patient management. Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work seamlessly with the Departments of Anesthesiology, Radiology, Critical Care, and Medical Oncology to provide comprehensive, patient-centric care. Emergency Response: Actively participate in the emergency on-call roster, providing immediate surgical intervention for trauma and acute surgical emergencies. Research, Publications, and Quality Improvement Pioneering Research: Spearhead innovative clinical and translational research projects within the department, contributing to the global body of surgical knowledge. Academic Publications: Publish high-impact research papers in indexed, peer-reviewed national and international medical journals. Surgical Audits: Lead morbidity and mortality meetings and clinical audits to continuously improve patient safety, surgical outcomes, and operational efficiency. Administrative and Departmental Duties Faculty Development: Mentor junior faculty members, senior residents, and interns, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Accreditation & Compliance: Assist the institution in maintaining NMC accreditation and uphold all regulatory standards for medical education and hospital administration.
